V3 Change log
- Angle correction: Side and lower front armor slope angle changed from 45deg to (~) 50deg.
- Modified inner layout to simulate real Hetzer.
- Machine gun rotation axis further optimized.
- Fuel amount set to 320 units. (Real Hetzer carries 320 litres, so…)
- Various visual adjustments.
- Streamline work, part count dropped from 190 to 188.
Guess this is it for now, this little devil took me too much time…
Album contains 18 pictures.

V2 Changelog
- Now with tracks instead of bare wheels
- Action Group 1 for repeated firing
of the main gun
- Machine gun rotation axis optimized
- Visual adjustment especially for the periscope sliding cover and for the backup track
- Streamline work, part count only increased by 5 (185 to 190)
Strangely enough, among all those fancy heavy cats, this little buddy is probably my favourite WWII german armoured vehicle. I got a nice 1/72 diecast model on my desk, so I decided to also build one in KSP. Now in winter camouflage!
Key Features
- With tracks (only decoration, but allow movement)
- Exhaust effect (stage once, adjust with throttle. This also activates fuel cells.)
- Gun firing muzzle effect (stage twice and throttle up. Hit AG1 to fire more shots.)
- Real crew accommodation: driver, gunner and loader sit on the left in a row, commander sits on the rear right. Has a functional commander’s hatch.
- Machine gun can be rotated in SPH (rotate the Oscar-B tank)

- Visual adjustments are marked by dots. Also note the different inner layout. Pity that the driver can’t see outside through his tiny window.
- Some screenshots are outdated but look nice, I’m too lazy to replace all of them.

Design Notes
- This is a semi-accurate (examined only with bare eyes), moderately detailed one-day build (and another day for tracks + optimization).
- It’s larger than the real thing, meanwhile its wheels are too small. Currently I have no idea how to get around this.
- About gun firing. First of all the principle: it uses the flame-out burst of fire from a hidden rocket motor. This burst of fire only appears when fuel supply is suddenly cut off or resumed with a >0% throttle. This rocket motor is fed via a decoupler (with a LOT of offset). Action group 1 is set to toggle its fuel crossfeed, which becomes the
fire
button. Thrust limit is set to minimal to eliminate normal exhaust. - Ironically, the addition of
tracks
actually made it a bit less all-terrain, for the tracks will explode if they collide too hard (>8m/s) with slopes etc. But it can still travel over most normal terrains. Just drive with care. - Real Hetzer has a top speed of around 42km/h (11.7m/s) on paved road and 15km/h (4.2m/s) cross-country. This replica can make it with no problems.

Wish you enjoy and happy driving!
