DISCLAIMER
Every non-gameplay statement about this craft shall be regarded purely as sci-fi and alternative history settings. They are based on long-existing urban legends about WWII German flying saucer, and the film Iron Sky. This craft is not intended to represent or promote the ideology of real-world WWII German regime in any means.
There is much I want to write down, sorry for a long text! Also, please let me know if you encounter any problem, especially if the hatch is blocked.
Descriptions & Instructions
- Haunebu II is basically a disc-shaped flying bunker powered by an infinite energy source, the Vril.
- This craft in this configuration is fun to fly around with Alt+F12 infinite fuel cheat and SAS on.
- For serious pilots, it can also become a fully functional spacecraft with ~2400m/s vacuum dV and high TWR, ISRU, RCS, docking and reentry capabilities, basic science package and 7 seats. Check for Haunebu II/A 11 Mondrakete for that configuration.
Please take a look at the Action Groups tab!
Key Features
- Urban legend come alive!
- Fun to fly in atmosphere
- Perfect CoL, CoT and CoM balancing (0.00kNm thrust torque)
- Optionally serious and practical spacecraft / lander
- Solely and sufficiently powered by 12 RTGs
Design Notes
- In order to conduct actions on the Mk1-3 command pod such as crew transfer, you have to get the camera view inside the craft and very close to the command pod. (Thus it’s recommended to have EVA-busy crews sit in the Mk2 crew cabin.)
- The same applies to the narrow band scanner in the front, on the ISRU unit.
- Its landing gears should be able to freely rotate allowing taxing in any direction, but stock KSP doesn’t allow it. However, it grants quite stable self-braking in current configuration.
- Weapons are part of a combat vehicle design. If you don’t like them, please don’t simply remove them, but retract the drills and offset the gun shield DIRECTLY DOWNWARDS holding the Shift key, so that it remains perfectly balanced. Or you’ll have to manually balance it pixel by pixel, which is a PITA.
- The same actually applies to everything on board.
- The Kettenkrad in the 2nd picture is available here.
- My lore is quite different from the
original
urban legends around German flying saucers, because…many of them are just too far from reality, especially the claims that something with this shape could achieve Mach 4 at low altitude and eventually hypersonic speeds…I decide for relatively slow-flying gunship and bunker instead.
Lore
I think it’s too long to actually put on this page…Here is the Steam Workshop page with the lore at the bottom.
