Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.6.1- Making History DLC
- Squad (stock). Root part is fairingSize2. (DLC REQUIRED)
Replica of:
Chang'e 4’s Queqiao and Longjiang. LV is Angara-A5
Description
As “Munfeelsor” rovers are being sent to the back of the Mun, there is a concern about losing the ability to control it. Thus, “Goodfeelsor” Munar relay satellite was sent to establish KerbNet to the rear of the moon. The Polar varient also carries the M700 resource scanner so it can scan the moon for resource.
Accompanying the Goodfeelsor is two “Heita” Satellite, caryring Narrow Band scanner for detail scanning of Munar surface.
To transfer the satellite set to the Munar orbit, the Goodfeelsor Polar set utilized the first standardized/modular launcher system, the Ladle YiWCC LiX – in this case, running as a 5-stack configuration and use the standard upper stage “Spoon” for Munar transfer. The “Spoon” upper stage also allows the Goodfeelsor Polar to transverse between different inclination so it can scan the Mun before establishing an optimal relay orbit.
Real Life Notes
Now I know many fellow crafters put the Lunar relay Queqiao
(lit. Magpie Bridge) with their Rover launch, but I decide to keep it seperate. Chang'e 4 is actually more of a Chang'e project, phase 4
– It is composed of 2 seperated launches: the Queqiao+2x Longjiang is launched on a CZ-4C, first launch in May 20, 2018, and the rover proper (built as a backup to Chang'e 3, with adjustment) is launched on December 7, 2018.
The launcher used is not a CZ-4C clone, as I do not want to have duplicate one-time launchers (it would have been a single stack of 1.8m parts in 3 stages). Instead, it is a clone of Russian’s Angara, specifically the A5 configuration. Also, as with real life, the core stage is throttled down instead of using crossfeeding.
Both Goodfeelsor and Munfeelsor is a reference to the First OP song of the anime Uchuu Kyoudai
. In fact early designs of Goodfeelsor would actually have involved a JAXA-H3 clone (ie the GDLV3 with shortened SRB and swapped engines), before I realized the chance of me reusing the LV is slim, and possibly overlap with Ladle YiWCC series, which I do plan to reuse.
