Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.7.2 (DLC REQUIRED)
- Breaking Ground DLC
- Making History DLC
- Squad (stock).
Root part is HECS2.ProbeCore.
Description
While Probes allow Kerbals to explore from the comfort and safety of KSC, they still need a clear path of transmission. The “Farsight Radio Observatory” is designed to allow contact to the bravest explorer in deep space.
This version had been modified by JS Hangtian for greater efficiency. Equipped with 2x RA-100, 1x RA-15, and 3x HG-5 for a total of 215G power, the Farsight is also equipped with M700 survey scanner and Narrow-band scanner for geographical observation and other science sensor. For orbit change, it was also equipped with efficient “Dawn” electrical thrusters.
For launch into Kerbin Orbit, hinges are used to position the booms in a compact position, allowing the “Yakitori WuX” with “Xiao Tangchi” upper stage to launch it to the desired position.
Maker’s Note
As many would realize, this is actually extracted from the Transmission
Scenario using https://www.kerbaltek.com/craftkitchen. Of course, by itself, it would not warrant any place on KerbalX… and that’s where it was JS-fied. The numerous struts was either removed or replaced with XL girders (reduce part count from a whooping 108 to 46), and with BG-DLC I can simply make the booms collapsable instead of attaching small tugs to the different pieces and conduct orbit assembly, so it can be launched simply by a single stack of my 2.75m rocket.
In a way, this is also my response to some of the crafts around here that is just ripped from the game: chances are you can improve them greatly and not just a simple part swap.
