SV-235 ‘Bubble Bus’ Tour Shuttle

A vertical-takeoff / horizontal landing shuttle designed for ferrying up to 20 tourists to the Mun and Minmus. Includes a mini lander with 2 crew capacity for tourist landings on atmosphere-less bodies. Nuclear engines provide upper-stage efficiency with enough fuel capacity to visit both moons with multiple landings on each and a return / re-entry to Kerbin.

Ascent Profile

4x Clydesdale boosters lift upper stage to ~300km. Decouple boosters when empty, circularize using nuclear engines at apoapsis.

Re-Entry Profile

Upper atmosphere:
Start descent from LKO. If low on fuel, multiple passes through the upper atmosphere can be used to gradually reduce speed.

Burn to set periapsis at ~30km. Face approximately 20-30° above prograde vector to increase atmospheric drag. The craft will land short of this periapsis.

Lower atmosphere:
As speed reduces craft will start to pitch downward. Deploy drogue chutes, radial chutes, and landing gear for touchdown.
