Description
The ‘A’ variant of the CV-3 family of crew vehicles is designed for Low-Kerbin-Orbit activities such as crew transfers and servicing missions. Therefore this variant lacks large fuel reserves and robust communication equipment.
The CV-3A is launched on the Griffin T2C, a special crew rated version of the Griffin T2. Although the T0 is capable of launching a payload of this weight into LKO, the T2 was chosen to avoid the steep launch profile that would otherwise be required allowing abort scenarios that are more favourable to the crew.
