The CB-4 Merlin is a trainer aircraft developed to train kerbonauts in the basics of fast flight in preparation for the future use of spaceplanes. The Merlin uses new technologies to control the aircraft, the rear stabilizers serve as both yaw and pitch control reducing the need for separate horizontal and vertical stabilizers. The CB-4 is capable of flying up to 10,000m and reaching a speed of Mach 2, the Merlin is also capable of super-cruise at higher altitudes.
