Description

A stock aircraft called HMS Lumity. Built with 632 of the finest parts, its root part is mk2Cockpit.Standard. No nuclear engines, only good ol’ Rapiers! If flown well, it can get to a stable LKO of 100Km with upto 2200m/s of delta V to spare (convert all the ore too).

It is also a VTOL just in case, action groups 2 and 3 selects and deselects the mode respectively. It can takeoff (and land) fully loaded from mun in VTOL mode easily. It can even barely lift off Duna’s surface (fully loaded)

It has a mobile lab and a large convert-o-tron with mining drills to be self sufficient. Feel free to play around with it, try removing the lab and convert-o-tron for much more delta V. I have gone way overboard with the parachutes, so be very careful when using them! (whole ship tends to disintegrate)

Optimal ascent: takeoff from runway and stay level ish till you reach the magic 450m/s for the rapiers, then pitch up to about 17 degrees noseup and keep it there till the speed stops increasing, then use action group 1 to switch to closed cycle, raise apoapsis as desired and cicularise (basically the Matt Lowne approach)

I also recently went to Duna (no cheats) with it, and with a proper aerocapture was able to land it (in vtol mode) with 200m/s dv to spare! (the intercept was quite ineffecient, pretty sure I could have done it way better) I was even able to return to Kerbin after mining ore off duna!
