Description
The K-25 Sparrow! A 137 part, variable geometry jet aircraft, mostly designed for high speed crew and cargo transport with some defense capabilities.
It is capable of reaching speeds of up to Mach 1.2, depending on fuel and cargo load and it can carry up to 10 Kerbals in the Mk2 Cockpit and two Mk2 crew modules. Additionally, it has two cargo bays with limited space for 6 TOW and 8 Hellfire Missiles.
Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.12.5.
Variable Geometry
When activating action group 2, the wings are swept back to move the center of dynamic pressure further back for better aerodynamic as well as structural stability as the wings can flex quite a lot when performing high g maneuvers when they are extended. But it does not decrease drag due to the way KSPs aerodynamic model works.
Additionally, when sweeping back the wings, two secondary air intakes on the bottom back of the fuselage are opened to increase engine performance by 30%
Additional info
As the wings are only attached to an alligator hinge, they tend to move much more than fixed ones, especially when yawing a lot at high speeds. The Sparrow has spoilers on the wings and body, which are controlled separately as the wing mounted spoilers pull back the wings a lot when going fast. The extended wings should be used anywhere from 0-100 m/s and the retracted configuration from 100 m/s onwards
