A lunar mining component named Orb. Built in the KSP 1.7.3 VAB with 17 stock parts.
I have used this component in a number of craft. It can be part of a vessel or it can be deposited upon a surface and left to mine. (In this latter case, it is recommended to include something like a Mk2 lander can to provide an onsite Engineer.)
Other vehicles can top-dock upon it to load fuel and then depart. The Orb can continue working (to refill its own tank) until the fuel tanker returns (as long as an Engineer is still incorporated).
