Description

1:engine 2:boost 3:ladder 4:chutes 5:cut

An air-sea rescue machine named Martin III.

This may seem only marginally different from its predecessor, Martin ‘Top Deck’, but it has had a good overhaul and is more robust for that out-landing. Martin III has become my go-to ASR equipment.

555 m/s @11.2km (7.7 km/g) or 850 m/s @ 15km (5.7 km/g), range: 2900km, Vs:36

I use a 20d climb to about 4km, then level off for a turbo-charge to attain 450 m/s and thence climb to 11.2 km (with speed limited to 570 m/s); finally disengaging after-thrust after leveling off. All the above to get this single-engine to cruise quickly and efficiently.

You can choose whether you throw the chutes (and quickly cut them) to stifle your approach entry speed, or whether to conserve for use in an out-landing, just prior to touchdown… Versatile.

And guess what? it’s amphibious! (Water lift-off around 55 m/s.) The perfect ASR vehicle…

Built in the KSP 1.11.2 SPH with 29 stock parts.
