Description
KISS-II is an upgrade of my original Kerbal Interplanetary Space Station that comes with a complete set of Minimus launchers, making it easier for the first-time space station builder to get into orbit. It is also simpler to assemble.
Cupola is the third launch and provides a laboratory, cupola and Mama Dock for visiting spaceplanes.
KISS-II is comprised of the following components, to be launched in sequence:
Note: All launchers are rated for polar orbit.
Deployment:
- check Resources:Liquid Fuel and pin open the X200-8 and R12 tanks
- SAS Hold; half throttle; ignition
- 30 m/s Sfc Pro; pitch down 5 deg; full throttle but reduce to allow the nose to fall toward 45 deg
- AP 40 coast
- 35 km full throttle
- AP 75km coast
- after 50km jettison fairing
- after 70km burn toward the horizon but don’t use more than half the X200
- milk the R12 reserve fuel into the X200 and separate
- gently apply full power to the Twitches with the nose on the horizon but lift it when necessary to prevent the climb rate going negative
- after circularization, switch back to the Minimus first stage booster. Turn Sfc Retro and apply the brakes and throw the chutes
- use any remaining fuel to maneuver for r/v with KISS-II
- if necessary, send Finch for retrieval
- when close to KISS-II, separate the Finch, turn Prograde and, ensuring other vehicles are clear!!, then stage the separation of S2 for de-orbiting and recovery
