Description

An ion-powered High Energy Transfer machine named FastBurn. Built in the KSP 1.11.2 VAB with 154 stock parts.

FastBurn is based on ideas by OutInSpace in his Ion Fastboat and is published here with his kind permission. It is packaged atop a Simplicity lifter and is designed to be redocked in LKO with e.g. an Escort transfer injection booster.

The ion-powered craft sports 39.6 km/s dV. If you care to replace the Onion capsule with an EVA chair (pictured below), total dV climbs to 43 km/s.

FastBurn starts with 50 Xenon tanks, 48 of which may be jettisoned in stages once exhausted. Initial acceleration rate is 0.30 m/s but climbs to 1.22 m/s.
