Description
B:spin
I pose the question to you, Dear Reader, Can very simple concepts be original?
…
…to which, I candidly admit, I dunno
The precipitating reason for this lifter being S3-gauge was to use the S3 fairing to encompass a whole space plane so as to keep the load aerodynamically stable during ascent.
I used 2x S3-14400 fuel tanks at first but found that 75% capacity was fine for the task at hand.
Nevertheless, Fast Charge is flexible with S3 tank configuration.
NB: reaching the Karman line (7-km), be sure to engage the brakes [B]. These are essential for recovery of the Mammoth engine.
Depending upon your payload and lifter configuration, it is possible to have the intention to circularize the lifter in space, as well as the payload. In this case, a possible application is to refuel the lifter and then remount a payload in orbit – in preparation for using the Fast Charge for service as an interplanetary transfer injection booster (after which, unless also fitted with a control drone, it will become lost in space
).
One final, extra application in mind, is to use Fast Charge as a descent arrester at Eve, after refueling, to safely lower a cargo, especially an Eve airplane…
