Emperor II is an electric VTOL exploration/commuter craft for Duna. It’s a larger-engine version of Emperor I, which is the Kerbin (trainer) version.
The Zest lifter can be refueled before departure to Duna. Use either a claw or detach the Zest, refuel it and then recouple to the Emperor II carrier (Papa dock) after abandoning the ADTP-2-3 adapter. Note, however, that the whole vehicle should reach LKO with 4.5 km/s dV available, which should be plenty to go.
At arrival and deorbit at Duna, the Emperor II fan rotor engines should be ‘engaged’ and one fan blade on each engine should be reset to ‘undeployed’ (to match RCS disabled). This ‘unmothballs’ the Emperor II from liftoff/space travel mode, readying it for atmospheric flight…
