Description

An electric airplane named Electroglide. Built in the KSP 1.11.2 SPH with 31 stock parts.

The only things better than ions are electric – and beer!

I built this one for Eve but it flies so purty on Kerbin and I’m expecting it will do the trick on Laythe as well.

160+ m/s trimmed out at 2 km. Stays charged on 50% sunlight.

Vr is just above 50 m/s and stall speed somewhere not far below 43 m/s.

Prop pitch is controlled by numpad asterisk and slash.

For take-off, trim up to the mid-notch and 3 clicks starboard aileron; then Caps Lock for fine control of prop pitch. Pin the prop tweak menu open and start with prop pitch around 5-10 and keep increasing to maintain peak acceleration. Machine will auto-rotate just after 50 m/s (SAS disengaged)…

Top speed will occur around 70% pitch(?) but your numbers may vary.

Be sure not to bang the tail-wheel down on landing lest you incur a prop strike!… Lands like a pillow, though!

ECO 2020-05-25 aligned the prop (as best I could) so that approx -3 pitch is neutral thrust
ECO 2023-02-11 upgrade to 1.11.2 and tune controls; prop pitch now on numpad asterisk and slash
