Description
1:engines 2:reverse 3:tail-wheel 4:tail-chute
Another in the break-apart plane
series: the Douglas Duckling. Built in the KSP 1.7.3 SPH with 33 stock parts.
It’s a tail-dragger. The tail-wheel is independently retractable which enables you to rotate earlier (if you dare).
It has a tail chute for in transit landings but it has the range to go to any location on Kerbin.
You can throw the tail chute to line up the target, adjust your dive run and then cut away when you’re ready.
Final stage causes the machine to break apart, depositing a base accommodating 16-19 kerbals and a certain amount of fuel.
306 m/s @ 6km drawing 0.47 kal/sec yielding a range of 2200 km. Also quite fun to maneuver in the pattern!
Embarkation is via the Mk3 cabin…
This craft obsoletes my earlier Bullseye. But yeah: it’s still ugly… :)
*ECO 2021-05-07 * removed nose gear; brakes 200%; raised tail gear; added HG-5
