Description

[9] Mammoth [0] xfeed

A medium-heavy lifter named Dreadnought. Built in the KSP 1.11.2 VAB with 141 stock parts.

Packaged here with a test load. Dreadnought provides three-stages of engines: 8x Boar overlapped with a core Mammoth (recoverable) and finally a single Rhino, which may be retained as a driver for the payload or is optionally also recoverable.

Dreadnought is designed to be compact, yet powerful. It is therefore keyed (for the heavier loads) upon drawing fuel from the payload.

In this package, 175t are delivered into low orbit without ever testing the lifting power of the engines.

If you intend to recover S2 (Mammoth), it is recommended to plot your trajectory to jettison it when PE is NEG 300 m/s. You must set the brakes before doing so.

S3 (Rhino) is also recoverable. Ensure it contains enough fuel only to deorbit and then stage it. Deorbiting is easy. At 70E, lower PE to 60. At 110W, lower it further to about NEG 160 km. Tune to preference.

Many thanks to swjr-swis for his invaluable advice/diagnosis in this project.
