Description

1:Horz 2:Vert 3:dock 4:gen B:spin

An update to the original to beef up RCS control but also incorporate my new Fast Charge lifter (unpublished).

Launch:

pitch-down 5deg at 40 m/s; raise AP to 75 km; @70km set Brakes (spin); separate & circularize Delta; switch to Fast Charge and ride down for recovery.

Landing:

Using d = speed ^ 2 / (2.a) to compute deorbit stopping distance from orbital speed and max acceleration (given by KER) as usual, start slightly high and about 5km late on the deorbit burn keeping the nose on the retrograde horizon. The VERT engine can be used to hold off impact and resort to the conventional tail-sit if indicated (Better Burn Time). Starting late on the retro, overshooting the far runway threshold and then continuing the burn to bring horizontal speed back to to about 50 m/s toward the spaceport. It’s an improvisation from there to get lined up with the runway before arriving at the threshold. Ensure the sink rate is mild at touch-down and that the motion and undercart are true with the runway.
