The F7U-2 Cutlass Plus is an improvement in every way over the standard Cutlass. Addition of a forward canard and third engine provide higher maximum takeoff weight and more typical tricycle takeoff behavior. These also improve acceleration and top speed. It will reach Mach 0.7+ in level flight. It’s just as stable in flight as the original, but with much better pitch handling - now loops and split-s turns are easy! A drogue chute hauls that floaty rear down to ground and makes landings a snap.
Testing continues on an F7U-3 variant with high power vectored thrust engines.
