The He 1078 was a response to the Emergency Fighter Program
in 1944/1945. While the A
variant was a fairly standard aircraft layout, the B
variant is well…weird. Featuring a dual gondola design, the port gondola housed the pilot and the starboard was to house at least 2x 30mm cannons to be used in an anti-bomber role as well as the nose landing gear.
For ease of use, I’ve forgone the offset nose gear in favor stock part center line configuration.
To supplement the jet engine, I worked in a counter-rotating ducted fan disguised as the jet-turbine.
The torque is slaved to the main throttle. Blade pitch is slaved to I/K and functions best between 30 degrees at takeoff and a max of about 50 degrees when exceeding 120m/s. Make sure to activate the jet engine to provide electrical power.
