While the B&V p212 was a proposed test bed for incorporating swept-wing and jet propulsion technology, the p208 was an interim step as jet power had not matured enough for Blohm and Voss’ desired performance.

To sidestep the unavailability of a proper turbojet, B&V instead altered this design to incorporate a pusher propeller using readily available German built piston engines. To avoid using a long drive-shaft necessary in conventional pushers, the decision was made to split the rear vertical and horizontal stabilizers and mount them on the outboard edges of the wings resulting in its distinctive appearance. This would have had the effect of leaving the pilot with superb overall visibility.

Engine torque is slaved to the main throttle.

Propeller pitch is controlled with I/K and best functions between a setting of 30 degrees for takeoff and 50 degrees when approach its max speed of apx 150 m/s.
