Another way to lift a shuttle into orbit… (Satellite included)
It’s possible to reduce some fuel - depends on payload.
Takeoff: Flaps deployed (AG8), release brakes when throttled up, take off at 140m/s.¨¨Ascent to 10.5km at 10° pitch, reach ~300m/s¨¨Press prograde and use help of ‘Thud’-Engines (AG3) for transition to ramjet mode. When velocity is 380m/s+ pitch up carefully to 10° pitch angle. ¨¨Deactivate ‘Thud’s and gain speed around 1000m/s at 15km and 1250m/s at 20km. Activate 'Thud’s again and when you can’t gain any velocity switch to closed cycle. Activate 'Skipper’ (AG4).¨¨The craft is designed to pitch up, either compensate through SAS or play with the engines.¨¨Before decoupling fill up the shuttle tank.¨¨In space you can shut down some Rapiers (AG5) to balance the thrust of the carrier. ¨¨Before reentry activate the control surfaces of the shuttle.¨¨RCS thrusters can be toggled with (AG6)¨Vernors can be toggled witch (AG7)¨¨Deploy chute while landing the shuttle (AG9)¨¨Vaccum mode (AG10)
