The newest version of the Ambitious Shuttle—all new versions will replace the craft file here.

Easy to fly, requires no special tricks whether empty or full.

Maximum payload to orbit is an orange tank (36 tonnes). Maximum tested payload for landing is 6 tonnes.

Flight instructions

Takeoff and fly in a nice smooth curve, you should be transitioning through 45 degrees at about 18,000 meters.

When your boosters burn out, continue your gentle turn. If you find the shuttle difficult to control, throttle down and/or click the prograde icon.

Once main engines burn out, or when desired apoapsis is set and periapsis is just below 70km, jettison the external tank.

Press 1 to activate Orbital maneuvering engines and 2 to lock main engines.

3 will open the nose docking port, 0 opens the cargo bay.

To hit the KSC from an orbit between 70km-90km, burn retrograde before crossing over the big crater in the ocean until your orbit line is about 1/8th the way across the ocean after the KSC. That is to say, the longitude should be a little past the island runway.

Press 9 to lock all engines, and put your nose about 30 degrees above your prograde vector.

If all goes as planned, you should easily decelerate and have enough altitude to glide to a safe landing. If you need an extra boost, pressing 1 reactivates your OMS. On landing, staging will activate your braking chute.

Payload subassemblies to come soon!

Make sure to strut your payload to the cargo bay!!!
