Description

As the Second Great War of Kerbin ended, technologies on the DeHavilland Vampires that Kerbin Air Force began to be obsolete, as newer, more reliable and more powerful engines already entered service with aircraft from other manufacturers. All KAF Vampires were retired in the 1955.
.
In the 1965, Frontinco began modifying one of the retired DeHavilland Vampires still in proper, flyable condition to make use of the newly-developed swept wings and replacing the original DeHavilland Goblin turbojet engine with a C7 J-404 Panther low-bypass afterburning turbofan. Thrust-to-weight ratio of the aircraft increase significantly.
.
The empennage is then angled upwards with the fins extended to the whole length of it, while the whole horizontal stabilizer is converted to a flying tail; i.e, the whole tailplane is actuated and moved as an elevator. Air intakes on both wing roots are replaced by a pair of even larger air intakes on the side of the fuselage to feed air for the bigger engine.
.
The Super Vampire received continuous upgrades on both avionics and engine during its service time and remained in the Kerbin AIr Force inventory until today, where it operated alongside another Frontinco-revived early jet age fighter jet, the F-86MA Republic Sabre.
.
