Entered service in late 1940s to early 1950s with Royal Navy, serving as a middle ground between late-war superprops and early jet powered aircraft. It was one of the first aircraft to be powered by a turboprop engine and during it’s short service life was widey praised for excellent performance by it’s pilots. Excellent low altitude performance, powerful armament of 4 20mm Hispano Mk V cannons in the wings and an immense payload capacity made it a perfectly capable ground attacker of it’s era, even when compared to purely jet-driven aircraft.
