Description
The Bigfin is a medium lifter capable of hauling 16 tons into equatorial orbit, or 13 tons into a polar orbit.
The shuttle is built specifically for Ferram Aerospace, and I can’t guarantee that it will reach orbit without the mod installed.
I also recommend the Atmosphere Autopilot mod as the stock SAS doesn’t make full use of the control surfaces, though it is still relatively easy to fly without this.
You may need to use a ModuleManager config to allow the landing gear to be deployed again because the game considers it stowed when it’s clipped. Install ModuleManager and place this config file in your gamedata folder.
Flight Instructions:
Make sure that the payload is attached to the front of the cargo bay, and launch with at least than 5 tons of cargo to maintain stability.
Use space bar to launch. Make sure to max the throttle before igniting the SRBs and staging the launch clamps.
With payloads of less than 10 ton, you may need to throttle down two or three notches immediately after launch to maintain stability.
Pitch over so that at 3km up you’re at about 70°, and 12km you’re at 45°. Throttle down to 2/3 after staging the SRBs and follow the prograde marker to orbit.
