Description
Duran is a very durable and heat-resistant stock nuclear SSTO spaceplane, built with 78 stock parts.
Features:
Retains over 2k dV when reaching LKO.
Holds 20 kerbals.
Capable of interstellar travel if refueled in orbit and given proper kerbal supplies.
Kerbin Ascent:
Pitch 20° until 10 km high. Then pitch 11-12°.
Pitch 20-25° and turn on LV-Ns when reaching 1500 m/s speed.
Force-switch RAPIERs when you start losing speed.
Wait for RAPIERs to burn off. Turn them off.
Kerbin Descent (from LKO):
Aim at the very eastern part of big desert, set there a periapsis of 30 km.
When in atmosphere - hold pitch 7-8° above prograde. ABOVE PROGRADE, not above horison!
When near KSC - drain excess speed with airbrakes (AG
Brakes
).Switch RAPIERs and turn them on.
Land as you do with normal big plane.
Controls:
1 - toggle Solar Panels
2 - toggle Ladders
3 - switch RAPIERs mode
4 - toggle RAPIERs
5 - toggle LV-Ns
6 - toggle Cargo Bay
7 - toggle Raadiator
8 - toggle Docking Port
9 - Undock
0 - toggle Air Intakes (won’t save you much dV anyway, but as an option…)
Break - Emergency chutes. Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.0.4.
