Recently I’ve taken some time to work on myself, and become a better human being. I’ve been working out, trying to be more honest about my feelings, eating better, etc etc. After sustained physical and mental training, plus close to 600 hours of gameplay (I am not proud of this fact), I can finally……build and fly a really simple STS-style launch system.

Pros: Looks pretty skippy+not impossible to fly.
Cons: Still pretty hard to fly+everything else.

This sucka is made out of a pretty mid-career collection of parts but is somehow 4x more expensive than an orbiter. It will launch fine at 5/6 throttle. It flies pretty uneventfully and likes to roll onto its belly more than its back. Getting to orbit once the main tank is pretty low is a stupendous PIA and you need to play with thrust limits a bunch. The shuttle is kinda fun to keep balanced on reentry but is capable of a runway landing or a soft splashdown if you don’t let it get too nose-heavy. It has features such as a solar panel and science kit but carries only one, maybe two.

I think with some more tech, two orange tanks for stage 2, and a RCS port on the main tank’s bulbous tip, maybe you could have a profitable mun tourism vehicle? IDK. This entire concept seems to be a bear and now I think I understand why NASA went broke doing it.
