Instructions for LKO:

Before launching, ensure that some part of the payload is the root part. If not, re-root to the payload. Not doing this can trick MechJeb into thinking it has more TWR than it does, and can thus ruin the circularization burn.

First, ensure all RCS thrusters on the payload, if any, are disabled.

Set MechJeb ascent guidance as follows:

Orbit altitude: 70km to 100km

Force roll to 0deg on climb and turn

Corrective Steering with Gain of 0.5

Autostage 0.5s on pre and post

Stage fairings at 50km or 5kpa pressure

Auto-Warp

Edit ascent path
    Auto turn at 5km or 135m/s
    Turn end alt: 60km
    Final flight angle: 5deg
    Turn shape: 55%

Have KER’s vessel info window open so that TWR is visible.

Engage the autopilot

Stage once

Once TWR reaches 1.05, stage again.

Enable brakes just before the stage 1 engine cuts off. This will deploy stage 1’s airbrakes, which slow it down and properly orient it for safe recovery.

Once the vessel has exited the atmosphere and MechJeb has set up a maneuver node, enable RCS.

Once the vessel is facing the maneuver node, enable time warp. MechJeb will handle the rest of the time warp.

Once the circularization burn begins, disable RCS.

Once circularization is complete, decouple the payload.

Use FMRS to return to stage 1 for recovery. Everything is automated and you will have no control.

Use FMRS to return to the main mission.

There is a small fuel reserve that is used to deorbit. Re-enable RCS and set Smart A.S.S. or SAS to retrograde. Apply a small amount of throttle to distance yourself from the payload. Burn until periapsis is approximately zero.

Upon reaching 70km, stage to arm the parachutes.
