Description
The G.91 was born out a NATO requirement for a light, inexpensive, Mach 0.95 capable fighter bomber able to operate from rough airfields. Famed Italian aeronautical engineer Giuseppe Gabrielli took charge of the project; the design somewhat inspired by the successful F-86 Sabre.
The Gina
(or bane of top tier ground forces) would see not become NATO’s premier fighter, but saw great service with the air forces of West Germany, Portugal, and of course, Italy.
