Although it is rather late to the 4.5 generation competition, the backbone of air power in military operations continue to be fulfilled by 4th generation platforms for its reduced cost and appropriate technological advatage. With many MSOW 4th generation platforms being highly variable from each other and all approaching the end of the fundamental airframe lifespan, the KU-971 Kouhai intends to fill in a wide gap of 4th generation capabilities with a multirole fighter. Although not an absolute air superiority fighter, it has highly advantageuous dogfighting advantages combine with loitering and attack abilites. It breaks into the 5th generation tech with more sesonrs and marginal radar return reduction including bays for light armament capacity.
