This is driven like a tank and thanks to downforce can climb sheer walls. I use custom throttles 2 and 4, set up on my number pad to drive and steer. There are toggles for reverse all and reverse 1 side or the other. So you can adjust direction and turn on the spot. There is a toggle for the ducted fans. Make sure main throttle is full when you turn them on.
A stock aircraft called APC Mini Wall Hugger KX. Built with 272 of the finest parts, its root part is Mark2Cockpit.
Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.9.1.
- Type: SPH
- Class: rover
- Part Count: 272
- Pure Stock
- KSP: 1.9.1
Have been running them through a new stock KSP to remove any hidden modules.
When you first spawn, wait for the rotors to settle then lock on the brakes of the rover wheels. If you are wanting to roll on the rover wheels to get somewhere before climbing. lock the rotors first. Rotors work best under 30 rpm. When climbing a sheer wall you will want to work back and forth between 18 rpm and 28 rpm. This is needed to correct for the tank wanting to drift to 1 side or the other. Wait till you are at least 45 deg up a wall before toggling the ducted fans or they will lock you to the ground. It is best to approach the base of a wall at roughly 8 rpm to have it transition smoothly. Enjoy climbing all the buildings and the mountains. And yes this has got to the top of the satellite dishes and the top of the control tower.
Update. Finally noted down and updated action groups.
Adendum" The pistons are for if you manage to tip it sideways and find you are stuck on your side they help you right yourself. Putting the rotors up high and break dancing back up can work but can hurt if you flip up and come down hard. Also this can be driven upside down. just find a wall to climb without the fans on to right yourself.
YOU HAVE THE TOOLS. THE REST IS UP TO YOUR IMAGINATION.
