  • Professor Phineas Kerbenstein’s wonderous vertical propulsion emporium.

The Professor was chasing some aimless youth off of his property utilizing a pressurized canister used to suppress the numerous fires that break out around the laboratory.¨¨Hey, you punks, get off of my lawn!¨¨As he released the stream of water and noted the pushback, he struck upon the idea of using pressurized steam vessels to launch his rockets. Much more efficient than the gunpowder and even whale oil rockets.¨¨The new tail fins of wood and canvas are nice as well. Much better than those stupid gears.¨¨Whereas the best whale oil fueled rockets required multiple stages plus gunpowder boosters bolted to the sides, the power of steam allows the same amount of work to be done with only a single stage. Well, a single stage plus four gunpowder boosters bolted to the sides.¨¨One of the drawbacks of this system is that the steam chambers can only be attached together in a certain way. The Professor blames the contracted manufacturer for shoddy workmanship and the manufacturer blames the professor for sending them a tea-stained napkin written upon by dyslexic chickens instead of a proper design blueprint. In any case, even though the steam rocket is powerful, it is currently limited in size and configuration and subsequently its power is also limited. Suitable for going into orbit, it may not be adaptable to go further into deep space.
