Description

Elon Kerman wants to be sure that any future customers in deepy space can bingewatch the latest show so he’s sending ten communication satellites way, way out there.

A stock rocket called EchoStar-100G J-Vb. Built with 256 of the finest parts, its root part is probeCoreHex.v2.

Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.7.3.

The mission plan is to send the whole shebang out to Jool and effect a flyby and orbital injection that puts it in the plane of the inner moons. Once in a fairly eliptical orbit, continue to use the transfer stage to adjust the orbit to get encounters with any one of the inner moons. When the craft enters the moon’s SOI, drop off three of the smaller comsats (don’t use staging, that will dump them all). Then put each of the comsats into orbit. If you can manage it, choose a working altitude with a whole number for the orbital period, such as 3 hours. Then, when you put the satellites into orbit, have the orbit be a divisible fraction of the whole, such as 1 hour. Then, each comsat will be circularized to its 3 hour orbit in turn, spacing them out evenly in a constellation.
