Description
Dobro is good
and stands for the lander built out of the Block D stage.
A mod rocket called Dobro LK. Built with 54 of the finest parts, its root part is Tantares.Crew.A.
Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.0.4.
Korolev’s N1-L3 is generally overpowered until you get to the Mun. Then, the lander has barely enough to do its job of landing Kerbals on the surface and returning them to orbit. The Block D motor that managed the Munar transfer had plenty of delta-V left over. So, why not dispense with the Apollo Orbiter/Lander combination altogether. Just slap some landing gear on the Block D and yoiu are good.
Literally. In the Early Cyrillic alphabet, the name of the letter д (d) name was добро (dobro), meaning good
. Since this is a lander built around Block D, it is actually very good.
It does everything the N1-L3 did in getting two Kerbals to the Mun with less mass, less fuel, and 2/3 of the cost. And, unlike the LK, it has plenty of fuel to land on the Mun twice before coming home.
