Description

We don’t have the tech to send a probe to Duna yet so we’re going to stick you in a capsule and launch you. You’ll be gone for a few years so take something to read. No antenna either so it will be real quiet. (TL6)

A stock rocket called Barsoom Lander 01 (TL6). Built with 119 of the finest parts, its root part is mk1pod.

Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.3.0.

Parachutes are used for landing. You may need to use just a touch of engine power to make that more gentle, especially at higher elevations. Even so, that should still leave plenty of fuel in the boosters for the ascent.

The transfer stage is also used for the deorbit burn.
