The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 Würger is a German single-seat, single-engine fighter aircraft designed by Kurt Tank at Focke-Wulf in the late 1930s and widely used during World War II. Along with its well-known counterpart, the Messerschmitt Bf 109, the Fw 190 became the backbone of the fighter force of the Luftwaffe.
Along with most of my replicas, this replica needs the nothing.png flag to appear properly in-game. Download it here
This is my first aircraft replica to use custom landing gear. While that makes it look good on the ground, it complicates things a little bit.
On takeoff, adjust the pitch of the propellers to a shallow angle with I then rev up the throttle.
As it speeds up, increase the angle gently with K. Proper optimization should get it to about 60-80 m/s on the runway at which point you can lift off the runway.
It should continue to speed up on climb with proper optimization up until around 90 m/s.
The landing gear by default is locked. Press spacebar to unlock it when in the air, then press G to retract. Once it is retracted, lock it again with G. You have to be absolutely stable for the joints to lock.
You can fly without the landing gear locked while retracted but it makes hard maneuvers dangerous as the gear can rip off.
The part count might be intimidating but most of it is flags, so the FPS hit isn’t bad. In the air, it’s a fast and nimble if finicky aircraft.
