Description
It’s a rocket! It’s a plane! It’s Wangari Maathai, the fully recoverable lifter which takes off like a rocket and glides back home. It’s non-fussy to fly too, as long as you remember that on the way up it’s a rocket, and on the way down it’s a plane. Ballistic launch, aerodynamic recovery.
The Maathai has become the mainstay heavy lifter for the Brikoleur Space Program, easily lofting payloads ranging from wide Mun stations to long Duna trains and even a Duna-optimised VTOL rocket plane that needs help getting out of Kerbin. Fully automated probe core driven variants have also performed excellently, handling plasma blackout without issues.
The craft file has no payload, so you have to supply your own. I haven’t tested exactly what its capacity is, but I’ve been sending up stuff in the neighbourhood of a hundred tons without any trouble.
A stock rocket called Wangari Maathai. Built with 63 of the finest parts, its root part is stackDecouplerMini.
Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.3.1.
