Tylo Explorer
This is a reusable, refuellable Tylo lander seating two. The recommended crew is a scientist + engineer, as it includes a full-featured probe core and system-range communications for piloting support, and science operations can benefit from the presence of the former, while the latter makes refuelling much more efficient and less of a hassle. Tested orbit to surface from 45 and 83 km, leaving a few hundred m/s to spare, as well as surface to orbit under full fuel load. Dumping excess ore is recommended to maintain perfect torque balance.
The craft is easy to pilot, has a low centre of gravity for stability on the surface, and has some surface manoeuvring capability with its rover wheels, although it will not be able to get up steep inclines even empty. It also has fairings for the panels, allowing it to be boosted to LKO by adding stages without too much fuss.
The craft features a KAL controller that allows you to throttle the drill to balance power production and consumption. The ISRU core will overheat without an experienced engineer on board, but at rich ore concentrations the drill alone will drain more power than the craft can produce unless throttled. Edit the KAL track to tune it to taste; when tuned, the craft can be left to refuel in time warp without thermal or power-outage switch-offs, removing the major inconvenience of the small ISRU unit.
