Description
BAK Durandal is an extreme-range crew transfer spacecraft. She is capable of performing a round trip to the Munar surface, flying to Laythe, or performing a round trip between Laythe and Vall without refuelling. (Not all of these at once though.) She has a crew capacity of three, and handles predictably under all flight regimes.
She features an innovative internally-contained landing strut system, which allows her to land on her tail on airless bodies. The single nuclear engine used for transfers may not have sufficient thrust to make orbit from Kerbin nor safe landings or take-offs on all target bodies, so it is highly recommended to carry some oxidiser for an extra kick from the RAPIERs where needed.
She also has a drain valve that can be used to drain excess oxidiser (or fuel) if needed.
