– We cannot afford to allow them to one-up us again. First the Crevette, then the Super Crevette, with BAK playing catch-up time and again.
– Quite, ma'am.
– Our reputation is at stake. We must put a swift and decisive end to this matter.
– Indeed, ma'am. Swift, ma'am, and decisive.
– We will build a space helicopter.
– Certainly, ma'am… wait, build a what now?

The BAK-9000 Kosmokopter is a helicopter that goes into space, and comes back again. It makes no sense at all, but such is competition.

Actions:

1 - Toggle power
2 - Toggle RAPIER mode
F/B - Torque
U/D - Collective

Operating instructions:

Take off as with any BAK helicopter, then activate the RAPIERs. Adjust collective down to keep nose more or less level. Once moving at a sufficient speed, disengage rotors, set collective to zero, and engage brakes to lock the rotors in place. Accelerate to orbit using the RAPIERs and the NERV in the most efficient way you can find. It shouldn’t be too hard.

To return from orbit, disengage brakes and rotor, and return as with a spaceplane, adjusting collective to keep the rotor autorotating and braking once back in the atmosphere. When at a desired altitude, engage rotor and fly back as a helicopter.
