A mod aircraft called KAF F-15D. Built with 162 of the finest parts, its root part is fighterinlinecockpit.

Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.11.2.

The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle is an American twin-engine, all-weather tactical fighter aircraft designed by McDonnell Douglas (now part of Boeing). Following reviews of proposals, the United States Air Force selected McDonnell Douglas’s design in 1967 to meet the service’s need for a dedicated air superiority fighter. The Eagle first flew in July 1972, and entered service in 1976. It is among the most successful modern fighters, with over 100 victories and no losses in aerial combat, with the majority of the kills by the Israeli Air Force.

The Eagle has been exported to Israel, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. The F-15 was originally envisioned as a pure air-superiority aircraft. Its design included a secondary ground-attack capability that was largely unused. The aircraft design proved flexible enough that an improved all-weather strike derivative, the F-15E Strike Eagle, was later developed, entered service in 1989 and has been exported to several nations. As of 2021, the aircraft is being produced in several variants.

I’ve worked in this progressively for a while, and have finally completed it with working drop tanks, which are automatically jettisoned with SmartParts.

This is a fairly decent replica of the McDonnel Douglas/Boeng F-15D Eagle. Due to the kerbal scale, it is slightly smaller than its real life counterpart, though its size and handling is a great match for KSP. It has very long endurance times, and can easily escort bombers on 2.5+ hour long intercontinental escort missions.

I’ve kept the armament true to life too, and it carries 940 rounds for the 20mm rotary cannon. The center pylon can carry an ECM pod (as provided), an Air-Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM), or external fuel tank. I suggest keeping the ECM pod on unless going on extreme duration sorties, since the extra electronic protection is vital in a modern contested airspace.

The flags on the tail and wings are from my personal collection, so they can be modified as deemed fit. I’m sure you can make your own custom USAF roundel flag if you put a little bit of time into it.

The drop tanks are automated with SmartParts, but this is simply for ease of life. If you don’t want to download a whole new mod just for this plane, you can just take the parts out of the craft file in your favorite text editor, and the only difference will be that you have to release the tanks manually with AG5.

The nav lights are also as they are on the IRL plane, including the yellow formation lights
