Celebrating the Anniversary of the Best of ‘50’s Aircraft Tech
Well, a few days ago was the anniversary of the first flight of the F-4 Phantom II. This also serves as a BDA 1.2 update for my F-4E. Pure F-4B with additional carrier tailhook from Aircraft Carrier Accessories.
No BDA at all (created in 1.3.1, but that’s no issue).
The McDonnell-Douglas F-4 Phantom II is large twin-seat interceptor and fighter-bomber.
Due to the angled cockpit on this build, the aircraft is instead controlled through a drone core behind it; control is automatically transferred by start-up staging or activating SAS.
This is a rendition of the F-4B or F-4E, depending on your chosen configuration of gun. The centerline Vulcan gun pod that was mounted on the F-4B is available, as is the F-4E nose-mounted Vulcan. It features a standard load of 4 recess-mounted radar guided missiles and 4 wing pylon-mounted Sidewinders.
The Vulcan pod is built off of a pylon for easy removal.
The original purpose of building this 'B/E’ was in case of any potential BDA competitions, just so the F-4 could have two guns instead of one (without resorting to stacking/clipping guns inside of each other).
Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.4.3.
