Basilisk C3
Basilisk Interceptor
The BIAS Program (Basilisk Interceptor/Air Supremacy) follows the Viper Air Supremacy Program and PEGASys-D, taking core concepts from both and integrating them into a single drone fighter, the Basilisk. The Basilisk also takes its name from the combination of the two previous aircraft, being a mythological serpent.
7 Tiger engines shove this aircraft through the air. Basilisk has improved maneuverability over PEGASys-D.
C3 is a variant of the Basilisk C, carrying 6 Vulcans and 4 Sidewinders as its armament. It is tuned ‘following doctrine’ with missile-usage focused range tuning on the weapons.
C3 is armed with a Multiple Angle Counter-Rockets, Opposition Scattering System (MACROSS). This device has been reverse engineered and modified (if maybe improved) from the Vampire Squirrel, which it is intended to fight. The MACROSS is intended to scatter opposing aircraft formations, reducing the effect of concentrated return fire.
Apparently aircraft-launched MLRS might be part of the new meta in the ASCC (which is nice because the initial merge was always dumb). And frankly, as of the C3 subvariant, the actual aicraft tuning is ‘meh, works’. Its gun usage is weak beyond 700m; it’s not that good of a stable gun platform for air-to-air combat.
Built for the Air Superiority Competition Continued.
Built in the SPH in KSP version 1.3.1.
