Description
After building my Proton M like 20t rocket recently, I learned that a 4th stage called Briz-M was or could be used to put things into orbits/ interplanetary travel.
The original design for the Briz-M as a maximum payload capacity of 3.5t and this Kerbalised version will have 3241 DeltaV (over 17min of burn in total) available with max payload. However you’ll have a really small TWR 0.19 to 0.44 with external tank and 0.56 to 0.66 when external tank is dropped.
The design of this stage is pretty interresting and was really fun to build, the external tank made of R-12 Doughnut tank can detach and it look pretty cool when it does and can be done while the thrusters are on. The fuel flow priority as been set to make sure the external tank drain first ofcourse but check it twice view note below.
Happy flying.
NOTE: Important double check flow priority once you attached the ship to your launcher as KSP as terrible tendency to change those value automatically.
ps: The test payload from the picture has been removed from the file to reduce the mod usage.
A mod rocket called Briz-M Block D - mk1. Built with 31 of the finest parts, its root part is probeCoreOcto2.v2.
Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.11.1.
