Description
A300 - 2 Stage Spaceplane
Still a somewhat rough design. I play with Atmospheric Autopilot, so no guarantees how this thing will fly without it. Activate RCS to switch the 1st stage engines to rocket mode. Also, during the 1st stage’s rocket burn the plane will begin needing to pitch down aggressively. I’ve been watching the pitch indicator and slowly lowering the throttle to keep pitch from reaching maximum authority, then staging around half-throttle. OR - you could just stage before switching to rocket mode. The orbiter has more than enough delta V to make it on its own, I just think bi-modal engines are cool :)
As a final note, remember to activate the vernier thruster under the orbiter’s nose before re-entry.
