Description
A stock rocket called Epsilon. Built with 28 of the finest parts, its root part is miniFuelTank.
Built in the VAB in KSP version 1.5.0.
This rocket is inspired by JAXA’s Epsilon rocket. During the launch of the real rocket, the only thing that keeps the rocket on course is its aerodynamics. It is pulled over
by gravity/aerodynamics in flight, so it naturally follows the correct path. I’m happy to say that I was able to replicate this aspect of the rocket as well. When you launch, it will naturally fall over
as it goes up, just make sure that you LAUNCH WITHOUT SAS ON. Once the first stage burns out you should turn it back on so you have control over the second stage. Ignite the second stage as you near the Ap (Apoapsis) with the rocket pointing at the horizon.
The rocket is tuned
to the satellite and desired Ap by moving three hidden fins up and down the first stage. The first stage alone can raise the Ap well above the atmosphere. The lower the fins are, the lower the Ap will be and vice versa. Of course, if you change the mass of the satellite it will also affect the Ap in flight. This set up will put the Ap at ~85km.
This craft has been updated in v1.5, so the second stage booster looks different/better.
Please Note:
KerbalX doesn’t recognize the new part, so that’s why there’s the notice at the bottom. If you know how to change that, please comment.
