An aircraft called Boeing 777-8. Built with 190 of the worst parts, its root part is A ROOT PART.
Built in the TOTALLY VAB in KSP version 1.6.something.
The Boeing 777 originals (Boeing 777-200s, -200ERs, -300) has proven to be very popular, however some aircrafts are now rapidly approaching their retirement age. Furthermore, Airbus was developing the A350-1000, which matched the size of the Boeing 777-300ER. The current design of the Boeing 777-300ER made it very hard to make it more competitive against the more efficient A350-1000. Thus, a new generation of 777s are being developed as the next generation of the Boeing 777 lineup. Two versions were planned - the Boeing 777-8 and the Boeing 777-9.
The Boeing 777-8 is the shrunken version of the Boeing 777-9, which is designed to directly replace the ageing Boeing 777-200LR, and compete with the Airbus A350-1000. Despite it is a smaller version, it has increased range than the Boeing 777-9. It will feature the highly efficient GE9X high bypass turbofan, foldable wingtips, carbon composite everywhere, and revamped cockpits and cabin. Despite being a smaller version out of the two versions, the Boeing 777-8 is scheduled to release 2 years after the Boeing 777-9. Because of the reduced number of seats, and the relatively failure of the Boeing 777-200LR it was designed to replace, it had a higher operating cost per seat per kilometre. In fact, this rules makes the larger versions of each aircraft sell better (except for a couple such as the Boeing 757). The Boeing 777-8, due to reduced orders, is at threat of being cancelled due to a reduced number of seats and only a bit longer range.
The Boeing 777-9, the primary variant of the next generation of the 777 family, is a rebooted and stretched Boeing 777-300ER, incorporating the newest technologies to reduce fuel burn to make it competitive against A350-1000. It has an increased capacity compared with the Boeing 777-300ER, as well as slightly longer range. The new GE9X engine contributes 10% reduction in fuel burn. Elongated wings and the extra wingspan the folding wingtip produces a further 7% reduction in fuel burn. 4~5% fuel savings achieved via shaving weight off the fuselage. In total, the aircraft is projected to have a 13% lower cost per seat compared to current Boeing 777-300ERs, placing it in the same ballpark as the A350-1000. However, it would have MUCH greater capacity and MTOW compared to its competing Airbus variant, as well as cargo space.
