In the early 1970s, the Douglas DC-10s and Lockheed L-1011 Tristars were approaching retirement age rapidly. This meant there is a lot of aircrafts which will be in need of replacement. Thus, Boeing offered a 767 stretch which could match the capacity and range of these trijets. Since the 767 engines (e.g. CF6) were too weak to power such a possible stretch, so Boeing offered to build a 767 trijet. This stretch was named the 767X, but airlines didn’t like the idea of a trijet as the 767 proved to be very economical and cheap to operate due to it having only 2 engines. In response to this backlash, Boeing decided to make a clean sheet design similar to the 767 stretch, but with a twinjet and some aerodynamic improvements. For such a twinjet, it would require extremely powerful engines, so the most powerful turbofan ever made, the GE90, was conceived. The Boeing 777 was the first aircraft to be built entirely with CAD softwares, and parts were built around the world, a sign of globalisation.
Description
. Please ignore the two forward landing gear. Please. And ignore all the extra landing gear. Please.
An average aircraft called Boeing 777-200. Averagely built with 156 of the most average parts, its root part is 25B76, which is a really amazing part. You should really check out Neist Air.
Built in a really average looking building in KSP version 1.6.1.
